Frequently asked questions
Grouped by what you are trying to work out. If your question is not here, message us. We would rather answer it before you book than after.
Do I qualify?
Do I need previous riding experience?
Yes. Revura rents to experienced riders only. You need genuine, recent experience on a scooter or motorcycle, and you must pass a short practical control check at handover. A rental is not a place to learn, and the roads here do not forgive it.
How much experience is enough?
Minimum experience: 1 year of riding. Most recent ride: a scooter or motorcycle within the last 2 years. Full detail on the rider requirements page.
How old do I have to be?
Revura’s minimum renter age is 21. There is no maximum age. That is a Revura rule and is separate from the legal minimum, which is 18 for a visitor’s temporary licence.
Is there a weight limit?
Yes. Maximum rider weight: 350 lb (159 kg). Combined rider and passenger: 350 lb (159 kg).
What is the practical control check?
A few minutes on the scooter in a safe spot before you take it onto the road: starting, low-speed control, braking and turning. It confirms you are comfortable on this machine. It is not a lesson, and it cannot stand in for experience.
Licences and documents
What licence do I need?
A valid licence from home, plus a St. Kitts and Nevis temporary licence in Class M, the motorcycle class. Whether your home licence must also cover motorcycles is still being checked, so the temporary driver’s licence guide carries what we can confirm so far.
Is an international driving permit enough?
We do not have a confirmed answer yet, so we will not guess. Bring your licence from home and get the temporary local licence before handover. What we can confirm sits on the temporary driver’s licence guide.
What does the temporary licence cost?
Confirm the current fee with the Inland Revenue Department. You pay it when you apply, at their Bay Road office in Basseterre or on the police e-licence portal.
What do I need to bring to pickup?
Your driving licence, photo identification, your temporary licence where required, and a card or cash for the US$500 deposit. Cruise passengers should also bring their ship card and know their all-aboard time. The full list sits on the rider requirements page.
Booking and payment
How far ahead should I book?
As soon as your dates are fixed. A busy cruise day can book the scooters out, and a multi-day rental holds a scooter for its whole period. Check availability for your dates before you plan the day around it.
How much do I pay up front?
The full rental, US$65 per scooter per day, is paid at booking. There is no balance at pickup. The US$500 security deposit is taken at pickup as a card hold or cash. Every figure that can appear on your bill is listed on the prices page.
What payment methods do you take?
PayPal, when you book online. PayPal adds a 5.57% fee to the rental. The US$500 deposit is taken at pickup, as a card hold or cash. The full detail is on the prices page.
What is the security deposit for?
Damage, loss, fuel shortfall, late return and fines. It is US$500, taken at pickup as a card hold or cash. Cash comes back at the return inspection. A card hold is released the same day, but your bank can take 3 to 7 days to show it. We photograph the scooter at handover and show you any deduction against those photographs.
Can I cancel?
Cancel 31 or more days before your rental date for a full refund. Cancellations 30 days or less before, and no-shows, get no refund. If your ship does not dock, or the cruise line cancels, you get a full refund or a free date change. To cancel or change, message us on WhatsApp (+1 869 763 4441) or email service@stkittsscooters.com. The full detail is in the cancellation policy.
Pickup and delivery
Where do I collect the scooter?
Cruise visitors collect at Port Zante. Stay-over visitors can have it delivered. Walking directions are on the Port Zante pickup page, and the areas we cover are on the hotel delivery page.
How long does pickup take?
Get your temporary licence before you arrive. We cannot hand over a scooter without it. After that it is the handover and the control check.
Do you deliver to hotels?
Yes, to hotels, villas, Airbnbs and marinas. There is no delivery fee at the moment. Delivery runs 8:00am to 10:00am and 4:00pm to 6:00pm, seven days a week. Details are on the hotel delivery page.
Riding and support
Can I carry a passenger?
Yes, one passenger aged 12 or over, within the 350 lb (159 kg) combined limit. A passenger helmet is supplied. The rider requirements page sets out the passenger rules in full.
Can I ride at night?
Yes, night riding is allowed. Lighting off the main roads is limited and potholes are much harder to spot after dark. Night riding sits alongside the other road conditions on the safety page.
What if it rains?
Stop and wait it out. Rain here is usually brief, and the first few minutes are the most slippery. Message us if it changes your return timing.
What if the scooter breaks down?
Get somewhere safe, send your live location on WhatsApp, and wait with the scooter. Roadside support comes with every rental as part of the SafeRide System. SafeRide is a set of procedures, and it does not guarantee that nothing goes wrong.
Am I insured?
The SafeRide System is a set of operating procedures and gives you no insurance cover. What you are liable for sits in the rental terms.
Can I take the scooter to Nevis?
Yes, you can take the scooter to Nevis on the ferry. Ask us before you book if the ferry is part of your plan.
Ready to ride?US$65 per scooter per day. Experienced riders only.
