ARRIVING BY CRUISE SHIP

Scooter rental for cruise passengers

A cruise-day rental is planned backwards from your all-aboard time. You get a route you can actually finish, an agreed turnaround point, and a buffer before you have to be back at the pier.

Yes, you can rent a scooter for your day in St. Kitts. Pickup is a short walk from the cruise pier at Port Zante, you must be an experienced rider, and visiting riders normally need a local temporary licence. Book by ship and date so the timing is planned against your actual all-aboard time.

YOUR DAY

How a cruise-day rental runs

We ask which ship you are on and which date you are in port. Ships arrive and depart at different times, and the rental is sized to your ship, not to a fixed clock.

Qualify before you sail

Riding experience, licence and age are checked when you book, not on the pier. A rider who does not qualify is far better off knowing weeks in advance than on the morning.

Bring the right documents ashore

Take your driving licence, a photo ID and your ship card off the ship with you. The full list is below.

Walk to the meeting point

Pickup is at Port Zante, [walking time] from the pier. Exact instructions are on the Port Zante pickup page.

Temporary licence, if required

Where a local temporary licence is required, we explain the process and where it is obtained. Allow [licence processing time] for it on a cruise day. See the temporary-licence guide.

Handover and control check

Helmet fitting, the pre-ride inspection walk-through, the practical control check and the condition photographs. Allow [handover time].

Agree the route and the turnaround

We set a latest safe turnaround point against your all-aboard time. Past that point you head back regardless of what is still ahead on the route.

Return, inspect, release the deposit

Return at the agreed time with the buffer intact. The return inspection uses the same list as the pickup check.

PLANNING

What fits in your time ashore

The figures below are planning estimates. They become verified times once each route has been ridden and timed, and the routes page marks which are which.

Suggested scooter routes by hours ashore in St. Kitts
Hours ashore Realistic route Riding time Turnaround point
Under 4 hours Frigate Bay and back riding time turnaround
4 to 6 hours Timothy Hill viewpoint riding time turnaround
6 to 8 hours Cockleshell Beach, Southeast Peninsula riding time turnaround
8 hours or more Brimstone Hill, or the full island loop riding time turnaround

When plans change

Cruise days go wrong in predictable ways. Here is what happens in each case.

Your ship misses the port

Weather and sea state cancel St. Kitts calls. If your ship does not dock, you did not choose to cancel.

Policy required Missed-port policy.

Your ship's departure time changes

If all-aboard moves earlier while you are ashore, message us immediately. We re-plan the return and, if needed, meet you closer to the pier rather than have you rush a route.

Your cruise is cancelled

A cancelled sailing is handled under the cancellation policy.

Policy required Ship-cancellation policy.

You are running late on the road

Send your location on WhatsApp. We would far rather redirect you early than have you ride hard to make up time. Late return is charged under the rental terms, but missing your ship is the outcome we are actually trying to prevent.
