We rent scooters, and our sister business rents cars. So this is one question we can answer without an angle: for some trips a car is the better choice, and we would rather you knew that before you booked.
The short answer
Rent a car if you are a family or a group of three or more, if you are arriving with suitcases, or if you want to stay dry whatever the weather does. Rent a scooter if you are one or two experienced riders staying a few days, and you want the wind and the view on the way to the beach.

The daily price starts in the same place. Pick on the trip you are taking.
When a car makes more sense
- You are landing at the airport. Suitcases do not ride on a scooter. A car can meet you at the terminal.
- There are three or more of you. Two scooters carry four people, but only if two of you are qualified riders.
- You have children under 12. They cannot ride as passengers on our scooters.
- You have not ridden recently. We rent only to people who have ridden a scooter or motorcycle in the last two years. A car asks less of you on an unfamiliar island.
- You want dinner out and a drink with it. Nobody should ride or drive after drinking, but on a scooter the margin for error is smaller.
When a scooter makes more sense
- You are one or two experienced riders. The whole island opens up, with the wind and the view included.
- You are staying a few days. We deliver the scooter free and collect it from the same address when you leave.
- You want the viewpoints. Timothy Hill, the Southeast Peninsula and the road round to Black Rocks are rides people remember.
Either way
Traffic drives on the left, and you need a local temporary driving licence for a car or a scooter. Get it online before you travel and it is one less job on your first morning.
